Mongolian Representatives of the Working group in Japan

Tani Koichi, Minister of State for Disaster Management of the Cabinet Secretariat, held a meeting with the Mongolian representatives of the Working group in Japan.

During the meeting, the minister Tani Kochi highlighted that “The most important step to protect against disasters is preparation and preparedness.”

Japan adopted the Basic Act on Disaster Protection in 1961. The Disaster protection policies and basic plans are prepared by the Central Councils and the Capital and Local Disaster Protection Councils based on the Basic Act on Disaster Protection.

The Government structure also includes the Central Council for Disaster Protection, which is chaired by the Prime Minister. “Disaster Protection Day” is observed in Japan every year on 1st of September. They organize a comprehensive disaster protection training school on that day.
