National Emergency Management Agency implements the second phase of the project “Strengthening the National Capacity of Earthquake Protection and Prevention in Mongolia” in partnership with Japan International Cooperation Organization, JICA. In the framework of the project, the representatives chaired by Major General, Ariunbuyan.G, the Chief of NEMA, are participating in training and building expertise in Japan between the 17th-26th of this month.
The working group consists of representatives from 6 organizations including the Ministry of Construction and Urban Development, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, NEMA and the Mongolian Association of Civil Engineers. They visited National Protection Center in the Itabashi district.
During the visit, they learned about policies and measures aimed at providing resistance to earthquakes in the district of Itabashi and studied the retrofitting procedure at a school and disaster protection warehouses.
