In partnership with JICA, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is implementing the ‘Project for Strengthening the National Capacity of Earthquake Disaster Protection and Prevention in Mongolia’ in 2023-2026.
Within the framework of the project, the ceremony of handing over the "Virtual reality" equipment for earthquake disaster prevention training was held at NEMA today.
The event was attended by the Chief of NEMA, Major General G. Ariunbuyan, the Deputy Head of the Embassy of Japan Sh.Kikuma, the head of JICA's representative office in Mongolia Tanaka Shinichi, and representatives of the project team.

In his speech, Major General G. Ariunbuyan emphasized that the "Strengthening Mongolia's Earthquake Disaster Protection Capacity" project is being implemented in two phases. In the first phase, the earthquake disaster prevention plan, construction of earthquake tolerance assessment, development of strength norms, earthquake disaster prevention training, and publicity activities were carried out, and equipment for physical earthquake sensing was supplied to the Disaster Prevention Training and Methodology Center. In the second phase, the "Virtual reality" device, a modern advanced technology, was handed over to the Disaster Prevention Training and Methodology Center and the Darkhan-Uul and Orkhon Province Emergency Departments training centers. "There is an opportunity to use modern technology to strengthen the capacity of emergency organizations, educate citizens on safe living skills, and reduce disaster risk."

Through the "Virtual reality" equipment for earthquake disaster prevention training, citizens and students can experience the risks that may be faced in the event of an earthquake in an artificial environment in the framework of three topics: at home, at school, and outside.
