The joint project funded by the Government of Japan and implemented by the United Nations Children's Fund is being implemented successfully.

The project aims to improve water supply, sanitation, and hygiene in flood-risk areas of nine districts of Ulaanbaatar. As part of the project "Improving water supply, sanitation, and hygiene while protecting public health in flood-risk areas of Ulaanbaatar city", 18 water supply, sanitation, and hygiene facilities will be constructed in non-flood-risk areas, and three high-tech flood drainage pumps will be provided to NEMA.

Additionally, 100 government employees and 1000 specialists in health and education will receive training and support. The project is being implemented in stages, with three high-capacity flood pumps already supplied as part of the second phase. As of today, a total of 8 sanitary facilities with a capacity of 40 tons and 2.6 tons have been provided.
